⚑ The headline findingEthiopia holds the largest livestock population in Africa — roughly 70m cattle, 95m sheep and goats — yet earns about USD 128m a year from livestock exports, less than Somalia (USD 500m+) or Sudan (USD 760m). Most Ethiopian animals cross a border informally and earn foreign exchange under someone else's certificate of origin. The gap is not animals. It is health status, traceability, feed and processing throughput.
